Declare your EDIJ minor

The Program in Education, Inquiry, and Justice (EDIJ) is where education and justice meet. EDIJ students believe education should be for everyone. Join us!

Becoming an Education, Inquiry, and Justice Minor is as easy as submitting a declaration form! Please read the information below carefully. The declaration form is typically available from mid-February through mid-March each year.

For the Fall 2026 semester, the EDIJ Declaration Form is due by 5:00pm on Friday, March 27th.

The official entry point into the minor is the EDIJ Gateway Course, EDIJ-3200, typically offered each fall. This is a great course to take if you are interested in the EDIJ minor.

This community-based learning course is a transformative experience that anchors each EDIJ student’s study of education. As part of this course, students volunteer in a partner school throughout the semester. Typically, students volunteer on one day per week for a minimum of three hours for 10 weeks. Travel to and from the school will be paid for by the university and typically takes 45 minutes to 1 hour each way via public transportation. EDIJ-3200 is a powerful way to engage with the DC community beyond Georgetown. If you are enrolling in the EDIJ-3200 Gateway, you should plan on creating a fall schedule that has a free block of time sufficient to complete your CBL requirement.
