Apply to EDIJ
In response to growth in student interest, the Program on Education, Inquiry, and Justice (EDIJ) is pleased to announce that admission to the EDIJ minor no longer requires an application. Instead, for advising purposes, we ask that you complete this Declaration form so that we can better understand your intention to pursue and complete the minor. Please read the information below carefully. This form is due by Friday, March 31, 2023, at 5 pm.
The official entry point into the minor is the EDIJ Gateway Course EDIJ-3200( Formerly EDIJ-241). Thus, rising juniors and sophomores who wish to declare the EDIJ minor at this time should plan on completing the EDIJ Gateway course in the Fall 2023 semester. EDIJ-3200 is only offered in the fall semester, and two sections of EDIJ-3200 will be offered in the fall 2023 semester. Students choose to enroll in one of two sections tentatively scheduled for Tuesdays 10:00 am-12:30 pm or Thursdays 12:30-3:00 pm.
EDIJ-3200 is a community-based learning course. The community-based learning is a transformative experience that anchors each EDIJ student’s study of education. Students will volunteer in a partner school throughout the semester. Typically, students will volunteer one day per week for a minimum of 2 hours. Travel to and from the school will be paid for by the university and typically takes 45 minutes – 1 hour each way via public transportation.
