Declare your EDIJ minor
Becoming an Education, Inquiry, and Justice Minor is as easy as submitting a declaration form! Please read the information below carefully. This form is due by Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 5pm.
Why do you have to do the extra paperwork with the form? It can be complicated to add a minor to your schedule, and we want to be in a position to better understand your personal and professional goals for the minor so that we can best advise you.
The official entry point into the minor is the EDIJ Gateway Course EDIJ-3200, a fall semester-only course. Thus, rising juniors who are declaring an EDIJ minor should plan on completing the EDIJ Gateway course in the Fall 2024 semester. (If there is available space, rising sophomores interested in EDIJ will also be accepted into the Gateway. We are currently offering one section of EDIJ- 3200 on Tuesdays from 12:30-3:00pm.
EDIJ-3200 is a community-based learning course. The community-based learning is a transformative experience that anchors each EDIJ student’s study of education. Students will volunteer in a partner school throughout the semester. Typically, students will volunteer one day per week for a minimum of 2 hours. Travel to and from the school will be paid for by the university and typically takes 45 minutes – 1 hour each way via public transportation. If you are enrolling in the Gateway, you should plan on creating a fall schedule that has a free block of time sufficient to complete your CBL requirement.
